- Choose carefully - If you're choosing your save the date cards or wedding invitations during the summer months then think ahead, don’t choose something too summery as it won’t look right against a venue decorated with festive garlands and ornate Christmas trees.

The earlier you tell your guests you're getting married, the sooner they can mark it on their calendar. Formal invitations can then follow around 3-6 months before the date of your wedding.
