Is It Okay to Send Birthday Invitations via Text?

Is It Okay to Send Birthday Invitations via Text?

In the past, we have been asked whether its okay to send out a text to invite guests to your birthday party. Despite being massive fans of traditional paper invitations, we've always said 'Yes!'. In fact, there are many benefits to sending out invitations via text, or via WhatsApp. Here are just a few reasons why:

It's free

Sending texts is free! This is the main reason why people send text invitations - and we can see why. If you are struggling with a party budget, we think that sending your invitations via text is a great idea. The money that you save can go towards other important things, such as the party venue or the buffet!

Fast

While a handmade or printed invitation can take a while to perfect, a text can be sent out almost immediately. Simply include the date and time of the party, and the location, and you're pretty much ready to go. You can add any extra details that you wish, including the dress code, details about the food and drinks, or how to get there.

Is It Okay to Send Birthday Invitations via Text? Should guests have any questions or want to confirm their attendance, they can simply send a text back to you. It's super easy!

Personalised

Text invitations don't have to be boring! Add some quirky touches to make your invitations fun, such as emojis, pictures, and gifs. Similarly, you could send out an e-card. It's a fun and free invite that guests will enjoy receiving.

Reliable

Paper invitations can sometimes get lost in the post; whereas a text is almost guaranteed to come through. Should you not get a response, you could simply message your friend on a different platform, or maybe pop to their house to discuss your party.

It's good for the environment

In 2020, everyone should be thinking about the environment! One of the best perks of sending text invitations is that they have very little impact on the environment compared to the alternatives. If you are particularly passionate about the environment or want to start making positive changes in 2020, why not send a text invite!

However...

We can't end this blog without expressing our love for paper invitations! Traditional invitations make an amazing way to invite guests to your birthday party, and won't be forgotten about quickly (unlike a text!). 40th Party Invitations - Gold Sparkle Champagne - Pack of 10 Featured Product: 40th Party Invitations - Gold Sparkle Champagne Here are just a few of the many perks of ordering your invitations online:

How Do You Package Birthday Invitations?

How Do You Package Birthday Invitations?

So you've picked the perfect birthday invitation, and chosen all of your text; fantastic! However, there are still some additional things to think about when it comes to packaging and sending your invitations out. You’ll want to make sure everything goes as planned, and that’s why we’ve put this easy guide together! To help you perfectly package your invites and to make sure you don’t miss out on those little details.

Picking the perfect envelope

First of all, we recommend thinking about what kind of envelope you are going to need. Do you want to pick a design that matches, or mirrors the designs on your invitations? If you don't necessarily want an exact match, are you going to pick a particular element of the invitation to reflect on the envelope, like a gorgeous splash of colour? Depending on the technique you chose, you may just want to pick an envelope that matches your overall theme - such as a heavy brown envelope to match a rustic design, a clean, square, white envelope to pair with a geometric themed invitation or a fun brightly coloured envelope for a kids birthday invitation.

Size matters!

Whilst picking your envelope, it's also important to consider whether you will be including an RSVP card. If you are including one, have you considered whether you will also add a small envelope to the RSVP? How Do You Package Birthday Invitations? - Kids Birthday Invitations - Unicorn Cake Featured Product: Kids Birthday Invitations - Unicorn Cake Another route you might want to take is to include an email address on your invitation and to encourage guests to reply through this channel instead. Compared to a traditional RSVP, an email can be a handy way to keep every response in one place. However, it may be helpful to know that response rates are almost always better when a traditional RSVP card is included - so this is definitely something to consider. When sending out your invites it is always a good idea to think about whether you need to include a further guest information card, to make sure all the pertinent details are together in one easy place.

Sealed with a loving kiss

Once you've picked your envelope, and made sure that all of the elements of your invitation can fit in, it's time to put on the finishing touches! Whether you hand-write the addresses or choose to print labels, don't forget to finish it off with an extra special envelope seal. This is the perfect way to add a delightful splash of colour to a plain envelope and make it truly eye-catching. How Do You Package Birthday Invitations? - Heart Pattern - Envelope Seals Featured Product: Heart Pattern - Envelope Seals Our self-adhesive seals are all easy to use, with no mess, no fuss, and travel well in the post. Even better, there is a huge range of seals available, so you are sure to find something to match the theme of your birthday celebrations, whether it's tropical, floral or rustic.
How to Choose a Beautiful Birthday Invitation Card?

How to Choose a Beautiful Birthday Invitation Card?

When you are preparing to celebrate a special event, like a birthday, you’ll want people to be there to share it with you. The best way to invite someone to your party is with an invitation card. Whether it’s an old friend who you haven’t spoken to in a few years or your best friend that you FaceTime every single day, receiving a physical invitation is something everyone enjoys. Here’s a simple guide to help you choose a beautiful invitation card for your birthday party!

Theme

Are you going to have a specific theme? Maybe you’re throwing a Great Gatsby birthday party for you and your friends to pretend they’re living in the roaring ’20s, or possibly a totally adorable pamper party for the little ones. How to Choose a Beautiful Birthday Invitation Card? - Kids Birthday Invitations - Make Up Pamper Party Featured Product: Kids Birthday Invitations - Make Up Pamper Party Whatever theme you choose to go with, you’ll want a card to reflect it. If you don’t have a specific theme, you can select your invitation based on a colour pallet or style you’ll be using on the day of the event. Not only does this tie the whole look together, but it also gives your friends an insight into what’s to come.

Tone

Tone is essential. It’s going to truly “set the tone” to your event. And, the best part is the endless possibilities that come with it. You can choose to go the formal route, simply listing the date, time, address, RSVP method and dress code. How to Choose a Beautiful Birthday Invitation Card? - Foil 30th Birthday Invitations - Sparkly Typography Featured Product: Foil 30th Birthday Invitations - Sparkly Typography Alternatively, you could make it a bit more fun. Try using different spelling, slang or even writing the whole invitation in a pirate's voice. If you have a wacky catchphrase use it here. Whatever you choose to do just make sure it resembles the theme of your party.

Delivery

Once you have selected a theme and written the information out for your cards you’ll need to consider your method of delivery. For kids at school, you could simply place the cards into a gorgeous envelope, write the name of the recipient on the front and have your child hand-deliver them. For those who are going to mail their invitations, why not add a little note or something extra to let them know you care. Once your invites have sent and your party has gone you’ll want to thank your guests for coming. How to Choose a Beautiful Birthday Invitation Card? - Ready to Write Thank You Cards - Funky TypographyFeatured Product: Ready to Write Thank You Cards - Funky Typography We love using thank you cards that match your invites or keep the theme of your event. It’s a great way to wrap it all up and share your gratitude at the same time.
How to Handle Birthday Invitations for Twins?

How to Handle Birthday Invitations for Twins?

There are often questions about twins when it comes to invites and cards. How do we allow them to be individuals on their special day? Should they get one present between them or one each? The same goes to birthday party invites; should it be one or two?
The answer depends upon the twins: their age, their interests and their interactions with your child. Every situation is unique! Usually, until the children are in high school, you would invite them both. There are only a few exceptions to this: if the twins are very different and one of them would hate the party, not having anything in common with anyone else in attendance, including their own twin. Another exception would be if the twins are getting older and developing their own friend circles.
In most other instances, not only will your child expect both twins to be invited, but so will the parents of the twins – and indeed, many of the other parents too! Once the decision has been made to invite both twins, if this is the appropriate response, more questions arise.
How to Handle Birthday Invitations for Twins? - Kids Birthday Invitations - Pirate and Princess Ship

Should the twins get one invite between them, or should they each get their own?

In most cases, if in any doubt, err on the side of caution and issue an invitation to each child. This will not only help you to keep track of how many people are coming (doubled up invites can leave catering and party-bags short of one or two) but will help the twins understand that they are individuals in their own right as well as being part of a set of twins. When they are too young to read, the invite is essentially for the parent of the twins, and a single invite for both is fine. Do take the time to chat with the parent or guardian first - communication is key! They may have requirements for their children to be treated as individuals rather than as a pair, and if this is the case, respect their wishes as far as possible.
How to Handle Birthday Invitations for Twins? - Ready to Write Kids Thank You Cards - Fun Party Bear
If the twins are hosting the party, then it is perfectly acceptable for one invite per guest to be sent: duplicates will be costly and can be confusing – although each twin should write a separate thank you note or card to the guests unless they have received a shared gift, in which case, one card, signed by both, is quite acceptable. In all instances, understand that twins are two separate people, and treat them both kindly and as individuals.

Do Iron on Labels Stay On?

How Do You Use Iron-On Labels

Anyone who has ever hosted a party before will know what a nightmare matching up all the kids with their possessions can be. That's why we always recommend that you include a reminder with your party invites to ensure that the kids all turn up with their names on any items that they bring with them. You could maybe even provide some iron on labels with your invites so that parents don't have an excuse. Our iron-on labels are extremely easy to use, but just in case you need pointers, we've got you covered.
Not only are our labels easy to use, but they also come with a full set of instructions printed on the backing sheet. But, there are a few extra things that you do need to bear in mind.
How Do You Use Iron-On Labels - Personalised Iron On (Clothes) Name Labels - White
Firstly, you probably shouldn't use the iron on its hottest setting. The best bet is to heat it to the cotton setting and to make sure that you turn the steam option off. It is important that the iron is dry when you use it - and the steam will make it wet. Once heated to full temperature, iron the clothing around the area where you would like to place the label. This area needs to be hot for the special glue to affix properly. Then it's a case of placing the label, pressing it down with the iron firmly and holding it down for a few seconds. Once that is done, iron over it again moving the iron around forwards and backwards to make sure everything is properly stuck in place.
Once you have ironed on your label, you should leave the item of clothing alone for approximately 24 hours to ensure it cools and that the glue sets properly. After that time, you can try lifting one of the corners gently to make sure that the glue is doing its job and that it is all set properly. If it does, you might need to increase the heat on your iron and have another go to see if you can get it fully stick. You should be able to wash clothing once the label has been ironed-on properly. If the label does start to come off, just follow the ironing process.
How Do You Use Iron-On Labels - Fun Pool Party - Party Bag & Sticker - Pack of 10
Imagine how much easier your party will run if all the kids come with their names on the items! All that will be left for you to worry about at the end of the event is handing out the party bags.
What Can You Give Instead of Goodie Bags?

What Can You Give Instead of Goodie Bags?

Goody bags are a great addition to any kids party. Children love to walk away with a special surprise that will remind them of your fantastic event for the days ahead. Along with old fashioned games like ‘pin the tail on the donkey’ or ‘musical chairs’, the humble goody bag is often another victim of modern times.
But, that’s possibly no bad thing. With many parents choosing cheaper or more practical options for party gifts than hunting for sweets, lollies, cake and plastic toys to fill out goody bags.
So if, like many, you remember goody bags as a staple of childhood parties and are struggling to think of alternatives, here are some great ideas that won’t break the bank.

Something sweet

Sweet cones are a quick, cheap and potentially creative gesture to give to youngsters who have attended your child’s birthday party. The great thing about them is they’re fairly small and lightweight, so easy to transport to the venue, and you can put whatever sweets you choose in them, so they can be a perfect match for the party theme.
What Can You Give Instead of Goodie Bags? - Mermaid Party - Sweet Cone Bag & Sticker - Pack of 35
You can also buy personalised stickers to place on the cone bags too, for an extra professional touch.

The practical party favour

Kids are likely to have had a lot of sweets and cake at a party, so sending them home with more may not be for everyone. Fortunately, there are some great alternatives which could still come in at a similar price. There are several places where you can pick up a selection of storybooks for around £1 each, and these could make a lovely, practical token that other parents will love too. Or why not pick up a pack of notebooks or colouring books and a selection of pens, or maybe a sticker book for younger children?
What Can You Give Instead of Goodie Bags? - Dinosaur World - Party Bag & Sticker - Pack of 10
Another great way to gift your attendees is with bags and stickers. We have a gorgeous selection available to add that little personal touch.

Get creative

A great idea could be to turn the party favour into the party entertainment. Why not pick up some felt pens and plain white t-shirts and get the kids to decorate one each, or they could even decorate their own cookies which you could prepare in advance.
What Do You Put in a Party Bag for a 4 Year Old?

What Do You Put in a Party Bag for a 4 Year Old?

So you've sent out the party invitations, organised the entertainment, planned what food to serve and now it's time to think about the party bags. Party bags open up a whole world of opportunity and allow you to get super creative. That being said, some struggle to select what items to include. The best bet is to provide them, but, minimise the items inside. Use small meaningful items that actually have some use to keep parents happy as well. A few sweets to make the child's day. We've come up with some great ideas for you below.

Books

Books always go down well with parents, they are something that they can keep and that they know their child will appreciate come bedtime, over and over again. There are some great deals to be had on picture books. So, take advantage of those and put something into your party bags that will really delight everyone. Alternatively, colouring books and a nice set of crayons are something that will offer a 4-year-old child endless hours of fun, if you fancy something a bit different.
What Do You Put in a Party Bag for a 4 Year Old? - Bunny Tutu - Party Bag & Sticker - Pack of 10
You will need to have some pretty big bags to hold a picture book, but luckily our range includes a wide variety of sizes to fit your needs.

Hair accessories

If you have lots of girls coming to your party, it’s always good to remember that among this age group hair accessories always go down a treat. The girls love them and because they are always getting lost, parents really do feel like they can never have enough. Place some pretty hairbands or slides into your party bags and you will really excite the little ones attending the party.

Bath sponges

Bath sponges are also a great parting gift that goes down well. Choose a cute design and you will guarantee that your party-goers will be looking forward to bath time. This is something that we're sure the parents will be thanking you for when they see you next.
Remember, when choosing gifts the best thing to keep in mind is that it should be something that can actually be used rather than something that will just clutter up the homes of your party-goers. One nice, thoughtful gift and a few packets of sweets will ensure that everyone is happy and remembers your party for the right reasons.
What Do You Put inside a Party Bag?

What Do You Put inside a Party Bag?

We all know how stressful organising a child’s birthday party can be, but once you pull it off you can relax and enjoy the celebrations. If you’ve already organised the venue, invitations, cake, entertainment and food, the final thing on your to-do list will be the party bags. The contents of a party bag will totally depend on the age of the child, however, there are a few staple items that can be adapted to all ages and interests. Choose from tried and tested ideas like bubbles and cake, to slightly more creative items such as masks, sweet cones, and vegetable seeds. We have created a list of some of our favourite items to put inside party bags.

It all starts with a bag

What Do You Put inside a Party Bag? - Ooh La Llama - Party Bag & Sticker - Pack of 10 Featured Product: Ooh La Llama - Party Bag & Sticker - Pack of 10
Before you can begin to fill up a party bag, you will need to find the right style. Ooh La Llama paper bags offer plenty of space for your items and come with personalised stickers - ideal if you have children with different dietary needs. This style of bag comes in lots of varieties with a choice of dinosaur, make-up, rocket, and unicorn stickers.

A piece of cake

You’ve put so much effort into finding the best birthday cake, the last thing you will want is to forget about it at the end of the day. If you haven’t eaten the cake during the party, slice it up and put a piece into each bag. After all, the kids have probably had enough sugar by this point anyway!

Sweet cones

What Do You Put inside a Party Bag? - Fun Pool Party - Sweet Cone Bag & Sticker - Pack of 35 Featured Product: Fun Pool Party - Sweet Cone Bag & Sticker - Pack of 35
For another tasty treat, use sweet cone bags and fill them with your kids’ favourite sweets. Pour the sweets into layers to add a splash of colour and creativity to your bags. You can also add lovely thank you stickers on top, for a personal touch.

Bubbles

A party bag staple, bubbles are a popular item that will go down well with your guests. They are also affordable to purchase in bulk, suiting all budgets. Bubbles can come in a variety of containers and styles to match your theme.

Stationery

What Do You Put inside a Party Bag? - Kids ABC Colour Me In - A5 Exercise Books - Pack of 2 Featured Product: Kids ABC Colour Me In - A5 Exercise Books - Pack of 2
Colouring pencils, books, pens, rubbers, and pencil sharpeners all sound like they belong in a school pencil case, but they are also a great option for party bags. A small colouring book and some pencils are easy to find and certainly won’t break the bank. They are also a good way for kids to unwind after the party.

Seeds

Better for older children, seeds are a unique option and will make your party bags stand out. Plant seeds or vegetable seeds are an eco-friendly option and a great educational gift. This way the children have something to plant and watch grow in their garden, making it a fun and useful gift.

Cookie/cake mix

Another useful gift is a cake or cookie mix. Get creative in the kitchen and put together your favourite mixture. Bag it up and write down the recipe, or order some personalised stickers to put on top. Layered cookie mixes also look really exciting.

Masks

Perhaps you’ve had a superhero, dinosaurs, jungle animal party or something completely different. Whatever the theme of your party, there will be a mask to suit it. Perfect for most ages, children love masks and enjoy showing their friends what they got. Randomly place the masks into bags, without looking at their names, for some added fun and laughter.
What Do You Put in a Sweet Cone?

What Do You Put in a Sweet Cone?

As most parents will know, sweet cones are the trendy accessory to any modern kids’ birthday party.

Most of us will have fond memories of helping our parents pick out toys, sweets and cake to include in our own party bag. Giving out a sweet cone will allow the other children to have something to cherish and reminisce as well.

A classic treat adorned with toys like tiny plastic yo-yos or a mini packet of Haribo and sometimes even squashed sponge cake in return - the party bag is now a relic of a bygone era.

Cheap and easy to put together and a nice token of party attendance, sweet cones are a great alternative. They’re also ideal for a product to sell at local fetes, a donation to a school or charity fundraiser or even as Halloween treats for the neighbourhood.

So if you’ve decided sweet cones are the way to go, how do you select the perfect contents?

Event theme or colour scheme

You might like to consider what event the sweet cones are for and if there’s a specific theme or colour scheme for that event.

Featured Product: Unicorn Cake - Sweet Cone Bag & Sticker - Pack of 35

For example, if your child is having a unicorn-themed birthday party then pink, white and purple sweets - such as mini marshmallows, Millions and Love Hearts - might be a good fit.

Featured Product: Back of the Net - Sweet Cone Bag & Sticker - Pack of 35

Or, if it’s a football party you’re catering for, sweets in the colour of a favourite team may go down well. Smarties or Skittles could be good for this, as you can pick the most appropriate colours.

An event such as Halloween could also call for a specific colour scheme, with black and orange sweets possibly the most fitting. While at Christmas, reds and greens would work well.

Beware of allergies

Featured Product: Ooh La Llama - Sweet Cone Bag & Sticker - Pack of 35

If you’re making sweet cones for a birthday party, it could be a good idea to check with other parents to see if any of the children attending have food allergies. If so, you may need to make those children slightly different sweet cones or avoid certain sweets entirely. It’s also good to keep in mind that during particular times of the year it may be advisable not to include chocolates due to the heat. Chocolate is also the types of sweets to be wary of if any of the guests are lactose intolerant. It’s also probably a good idea to avoid any nuts as well, with some allergies air-borne and potentially very severe.

Don’t forget your decorations

Featured Product: Emoji Party - Sweet Cone Stickers - Pack of 35

While you’ll obviously need sweet cone bags to make your treats, you can further decorate them with a variety of stickers, with many options available to perfectly complement your theme.
