Small and Budget Friendly Weddings

Small and Budget Friendly Weddings

Weddings don’t always have to be flashy affairs trying to match the scale of the royal wedding between Prince William the Duke of Cambridge and his wife Catherine the Duchess of Cambridge. Indeed, Hollywood stars Evan Rachel Wood and Jamie Bell recently married each other in a small ceremony which they managed to keep largely secret from the press. There are many benefits to holding intimate weddings with only a handful of selected guests. First of all, there is the cost factor. It is generally accepted that weddings are very expensive to plan, but you can cut down on costs by limiting the number of people that you send wedding invites to. It is important to find a reception venue which you feel fully comfortable in. You do not have to pay the earth for an expensive hotel reception room. Many local pubs hire out event rooms for free as they know that they will receive an income from the drinks money spent at their bar. Village halls and community centres are very cheap to hire, and can hold small or larger groups of people. If you are planning a wedding on a budget there should be no need to splash out on a wedding planner. Simply manage the work yourself. Another way of cutting costs is to enlist the help of a relative to make the wedding cake. You do not need to spend hundreds of pounds on a cake which isn’t going to last long once people start eating it. If there is somebody in your family who likes baking you could always ask them to bake your cake as their wedding gift to you. Most people would gladly agree to your request. By pursuing this option you are managing to save money whilst still receiving a delicious cake to share with other guests. Cheap wedding invitations can be found online so there is no need to go over the top on stationery options. We have cheap wedding stationery to suit every budget. Flowers can be a major expense at weddings, but one way of getting around this problem is to simply make up a bouquet on your own. Take a trip into the country the day before the wedding and collect some wild flowers, or simply snip a few blooms from your garden. Alternatively, ring up your local college and find out if they have any flower arranging students who may be able to provide their services at cheaper prices. Wedding dresses and suits are another traditionally large wedding cost. However, there are plenty of different dresses now available online to browse through. Find a dress to suit your own budget. It may be worth looking through a few vintage stores to see if they have any suitable options for dresses and suits. Alternatively, you could always bring out the sewing machine and make a dress yourself! Having a small and budget friendly wedding will be a wonderful day surrounded by the people that you care about most.
